What To Expect

What to expect at YESS
Once we receive a referral, a member of the team will make contact with you to confirm we have received the referral and gather any further information we may need, such as contact numbers or which school you go to. We will also ask you where you would prefer your appointments to take place, all initial appointments take place in one of the therapy rooms at our office in Uttoxeter, once you are allocated a therapist appointments will take place at your preferred location.
For your initial appointment you will be asked to come and meet one of our therapists for a chat, so we can better understand how things are for you, this isn’t about being right or wrong.
It’s a chat to think about how we can help support you and work together. Sometimes this can feel quite frightening, you may find it easier to open up and talk about personal issues with or without your parent/carer there, we can see you with them for all or some of the appointment or you may want to be seen on your own. This is your choice – we want you to find it as easy and comfortable as possible.
The chat helps the therapist and you to think what best treatment would feel right, as there are different types that we can offer or you may prefer another area of our service. It is important that we hear your voice and your needs and what you expect from us as a service.
After this meeting, you will then be put on a waiting list, and when a therapist has space, we will be back in touch to arrange the best time for therapy to begin. This will be for 6 sessions and then it is between you and your therapist to decide and think what is best for you both.
When the time feels right for therapy to end, there are other paths to choose like Youth Participation which you may want to access.
