Youth Participation

Participation is about young people and parents being involved in the development of youth mental health services. We want to know what you think is working well, and what’s not working well, and we want to invite you to be a part of making changes.

This can range from being involved in interviews for new staff, re-designing buildings to make them youth friendly, co-producing and co-delivering training/workshops, presenting work at wider events, being involved in system changes like transition plans and lots more!

So if you’re a young person aged 10-19, or a parent, and want to get involved read about the opportunities available, come join one of our forums or email participation@sssft.nhs.uk for more details!

All we require is that you have an interest in mental health through either career aspirations or personal experience, and you want to make a difference.

Ethos:

To empower young people to make positive changes to youth mental health services and culture. We will do this by organising forums and projects in collaboration with CAMHS, for young people to attend and be involved in. Over time we hope to encourage the young people to take leading roles so that they can facilitate groups and run projects themselves.  We will offer support, guidance and training for all our volunteers to develop both personally and professionally. To do this we will be flexible to all the needs and abilities of the young people, offering a variety of roles where they can work individually, 1:1 or in a group.

If you would like details on how to volunteer, or more detailed descriptions of the roles and projects on offer then follow the link to the Youth Participation website for lots more information and to keep updated on current events and projects: http://www.sssft.nhs.uk/participation or follow us on twitter @YPTSouthStaffs
